Is it really a vintage car?

If you want to take advantage of the tax benefits for such a classic car, you'll need to have it inspected by a certified vehicle expert. This expert will determine, according to Section 23 of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), whether the vehicle complies with the legal requirements. If it does, the vehicle receives an "H" license plate. The "H" license plate clearly identifies the vehicle as a classic car. This allows it to enter all low-emission zones without a separate sticker and also typically results in lower insurance costs and reduced vehicle tax. Only if the classic car is well-preserved or still in its original condition is it eligible for the "H" status.
